പാലക്കാട്-മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലകളുടെ അതിർത്തിയിൽ മലകളാലും കുന്നുകളും അരുവികളാലും ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട പ്രകൃതി രമണീയമായ കൊച്ചു ഗ്രാമമാണ് എടത്തനാട്ടുകര. 1970കളിലാണ് എടത്തുനാട്ടുകര ഭാഗത്തേക്ക് കുടിയേറ്റം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരുടെ ആവശ്യപ്രകാരം പരിയാപുരത്തുനിന്നും ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട തോമസ് മാഞ്ചുവള്ളി അച്ചൻ എടത്തനാട്ടുകരയിൽ വരികയും അദ്ദേ ഹത്തിന്റെ നിർദ്ദേശത്തിന്റെ അടി സ്ഥാനത്തിൽ തലശ്ശേരി രൂപതയുടെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പുഴ പള്ളിയിൽ നിന്നും ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട സെബാസ്റ്റ്യൻ ഇരിമ്പനച്ചൻ ഇവിടെ വരി കയും ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ദേവാലയത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം ഒരു കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരെ ഓടക്കുളത്ത് സെന്റ് ജോർജിൻ്റെ നാമത്തിൽ ഒരു താൽക്കാലിക ഓല ഷെഡ് നിർമ്മിച്ചു. ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട സെബാസ്റ്റ്യൻ ഇരിമ്പനച്ചൻ ആണ് 1973 ഏപ്രിൽ 29ന് ഈ ഷെഡിൽ ആദ്യമായി വിശുദ്ധ കുർബ്ബാന അർപ്പിച്ചത്. സെന്റ് ജോർജ് പ്രയർ സെന്റർ എന്ന ഈ ഷെഡ്ഡ് കാറ്റിൽ തകർന്നടിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ പൊൻപാറയിലെ ശ്രീ ചേരിപ്പാടത്ത് അപ്പച്ചന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലാണ് പിന്നീട് വി കുർ ബ്ബാന അർപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നത്. 1973 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരിലെ ചിലർ എടത്തനാട്ടുകരയിലെ പൗര പ്രമുഖ നായിരുന്ന ശ്രീ കാപ്പുങ്ങൽ സൈതലവി ഹാജിയെ സമീപിക്കുകയും പള്ളി നിർക്കുന്നതിനായി പൊൻപാറയിൽ 10 സെന്റ് സ്ഥലം അദ്ദേഹം ദാനമായി നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് സെന്റ് ജോർജിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ കുരിശുപള്ളി നിർമ്മിക്കുകയും 1974ൽ വെഞ്ചിരിപ്പ് നടത്തുകയും മണ്ണാർക്കാട് വികാരിയായിരുന്ന സെബാസ്റ്റ്യൻ ഇരിമ്പനച്ചൻ ഇവിടെ വന്ന് വിശുദ്ധ കുർബ്ബാന അർപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. 1975 കാലത്ത് ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട ഇരിമ്പനച്ചൻ പടിക്കപ്പാടത്തു കാപ്പുങ്ങൽ അഹമ്മദ് എന്ന കുട്ടിപ്പഹാജിയുടെ പക്കൽനിന്ന് രൂപതയിൽനിന്നും ലഭിച്ച സാമ്പത്തിക സഹായത്തോടെ വീടോടുകൂടിയ ഒരേക്കർ 90 സെൻ്റ് സ്ഥലം വാങ്ങി. വീടിന് ചില ക്രമീകരണങ്ങൽ വരുത്തി 55/1975 (20/03/1975) കല്പന പ്രകാരം ആഴ്ച്ചയിൽ ഒരു ദിവസം ഇവിടെ വിശുദ്ധ കുർബ്ബാന അർപ്പിച്ചുപോന്നു. 1975 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഇവിടെ നിർമ്മല ദാസി സഹോദരിമാർ താമസിച്ചു നഴ്സറി സ്കൂൾ നടത്തിയിരുന്നു.
പുതിയ പള്ളി നിർമ്മാണത്തിൽ(New church)
ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട ഇരിമ്പനച്ചന് ശേഷം ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട പീറ്റർ കുരുതുകുളങ്ങര അച്ചനാണ് വികാരിയായി ചുമതലയേറ്റത്. ഉപ്പുകുളത്ത് ശ്രീ പാറാക്കോട്ട് ഹംസയിൽനിന്നും 90 സെന്റ് സ്ഥലം അദ്ദേഹം പള്ളിക്കായി വാങ്ങി. 1978 ഏപ്രിൽ 29-ാം തിയ്യതി ഫാദർ ജോസഫ് പാലക്കാട്ടുകു ന്നേലച്ചൻ (MCBS) വികാരിയായി ചുമതലയേറ്റു. 1979 മെയ് 16ന് അഭിവന്ദ്യ മാർ ജോസഫ് ഇരിമ്പൻ പിതാവ് ഉപ്പുകുളം പൊൻപാറയിൽ സെന്റ് വില്യംസിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ പുതിയ ദേവാലയത്തിന്റെ ശിലാസ്ഥാപന കർമ്മം നിർവ്വഹിച്ചു. സാമ്പത്തിക പരാധീനതകൾ മൂലം പള്ളിയുടെ പണി നീണ്ടുപോയി. 1982 ഫെബ്രു വരിയോടെ പള്ളിയുടെ നിർമ്മാണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ഊർജ്ജിതമാക്കി. ഇടവകക്കാരുടെ സഹകരണത്തോടെ ഒരു വർഷം കൊണ്ട് പണി പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. ഇതോടൊപ്പം സെമിത്തേരി നിർമ്മിച്ചതും വലിയ അനുഗ്രഹമായി. സെമിത്തേരിക്കാ വശ്യമായ സ്ഥലം ദാനമായി നൽകിയത് സിഎംസി സന്യാസിനി സമൂഹമാണ്. 1983 മാർച്ച് 19-ന് അഭിവന്ദ്യ ജോസഫ് ഇരിമ്പൻ പിതാവ് ദേവാലയത്തിന്റെ വെഞ്ചിരിപ്പ് കർമ്മം നിർവ്വഹിച്ചു. അന്ന് തന്നെ സെന്റ് വില്യംസ് പള്ളിയെ 91/1983 കല്പന പ്രകാരം ഇടവകയായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. അന്ന് മുതൽ വികാരിയച്ചൻ പള്ളിയോട നുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള മുറിയിലേക്ക് താമസം മാറ്റി. എല്ലാദിവസവും വിശുദ്ധ കുർബ്ബാനക്ക് സൗകര്യം കൈവന്നു.

ST. WILLIAMS CHURCH
Edathanattukara is a small village surrounded by hills and streams on the border of Palakkad and Malappuram districts. Migration to Edathanattukara started in the 1970s. Reverend Thomas Manjuvally came to Edathanattukara from Pariyapuram to meet the needs of the migrants and on his advice Reverend Sebastian Irimbachan from Kanjirapuzha Church, which was part of the Thalassery diocese, came here. A temporary thatched shed was built in the name of St. George at Odakulam, about a kilometer away from the present church.
Reverend Sebastian Irimbachan offered the first Holy Communion in this shed on April 29, 1973. When this shed called St. George Prayer Center was destroyed by the wind, later we offered the Holy Mass at the house of Sree Cheripadath Appachan in Ponpara . In the early part of 1973, some of the settlers approached Sree Kapungal Sai Thalavi Haji, a prominent citizen of Edathanattukara, and he donated 10 cents of land in Ponpara for the construction of a church. A cross was built in the name of St. George at this place and in 1974, a blessing was performed. Sebastian Irimbachan, the vicar of Mannarkkad, came here and offered the Holy Mass. In 1975, the respected Irimbachan purchased one acre of land with a house from a young Haji named Kapungal Ahmed in Padikapada with the financial assistance received from the Rupatha. Some arrangements were made to the house and Holy Communion was offered here once a week as per the order 55/1975 (20/03/1975). During 1975, the Nirmala Dasi sisters lived here and ran a nursery school.
Construction of the New Church
After the venerable Irimbanachan, the venerable Peter Kuruthu Kulangara Achan took over as the vicar. He purchased 90 cents of land for the church from Sree Parakkott Hamsa at Uppukulam. On 29th April 1978, Father Joseph Palakkattukunnelachan (MCBS) took over as the vicar. On May 16, 1979, Reverend Father Mar Joseph Irimban performed the foundation stone of the new church in the name of St. William in Ponpara, Uppukulam. Due to financial constraints, the construction of the church was delayed. By February 1982, the construction work of the church was intensified. With the cooperation of the parishioners, the work was completed in a year. Along with this, the construction of the cemetery was also a great blessing. The CMC Sanyasini Group donated the necessary land for the cemetery. On March 19, 1983, Reverend Father Joseph Irimban performed the consecration ceremony of the church. On that day, St. William's Church was declared a parish as per the order 91/1983. Since then, the vicar has moved his residence to the room attached to the church. The Holy Mass was celebrated every day.
